Religion spoils the real truth? What are your thoughts.
by punkofnice ini can see how science is answering our questions.
okay, that's a sweeping statement, but it's the best way my empty head can express it.
i'm not sure if we're evolving as a species...that's another subject i admit to not reading about.

Questioning things is looked at as Apostasy. That is why the average Joe-JW is afraid to ask questions. -

Can you prove that WT policy of shunning is unscriptual? Will soon be discussing with somebody, give me all your ammo!
by EndofMysteries inwill soon be discussing w/ somebody still in about that.
i want to make sure i am not missing anything good.
so any scriptures, articles whether wt articles or secular about effects of shunning, etc, or your arguments against how wt interprets their scriptures, etc.

The fallacy of the shunning policy is no different than isolation and ostracism. In a way it is worse than isolation, it is public shaming which imposes much more guilt and shame on the supposed wrongdoer. -

What is the org’s view on extraterrestrial life?
by My Name is of No Consequence ini am sure that it has been discussed before.
but just out of curiosity, what is the orgs view on extraterrestrial life?
the org certainly agrees that the universe is infinitely large.

I don't know how much of this is believable. But I'll throw it out there. NASA has photographs of the moon which they won't release. There is evidence of photos of the moon being somehow ''brushed-out'' to cover things up. That's just what I read somewhere, not sure how much is true, if true at all, but nonetheless, interesting. -

Hypocrisy of JW Thinking After Tragedy Like Paris
by freemindfade init never has ceased to boggle my mind how twisted up jw thinking is.
when they see something like what happened in paris, in person they will express how sad and detestable it is quickly followed by "this is why we need the kingdom, and the desert god is gonna fix everything.
" here is where i get perplexed.

Events such like what just transpired in Paris the other day, JW's hypocritically get into somewhat of a ''hype''. Or an increased level of enthusiasm, despite the loss of innocent lives and countless others who have been injured. Innocent ones who were blindsided by a terrorist act, the JW's seem to be in an enlightened frame of mind they almost seem ''celebratory like.'' -

Are Jehovah’s Winesses “Fundamentalists” and “Fanatics”?
by EdenOne inrecently ive posted on fb a meme where a two pairs of hands held open a bible and the quram side by side.
then i wrote on it:.
(faith + fundamentalism) x (hate + propaganda) = legitimation of intolerance and violence.

Probably the preaching work, banning of Holidays, no association with non-Jw's, blood policy could all be categorized as fanatical and extremists of sorts. -

There's a lot of stuff not in the Bible which the Borg enforces. Maybe it's because it does not have God's backing. -

Hypothetical Question...
by JW_Rogue ini was just thinking that the org has said lots of outrageous things over it's history and most jws just continue onward without a second thought.
so my question is what do you think would have to be said from the platform or wt to get people to get up and walk out immediately?
is it even possible?

''We all must be ready to obey any instructions we receive, whether they seem strategic from a human standpoint or not''
I believe that was the November 15, 2013 edition of the WT
What they're really saying is something along the line of ''obey every word we may say, even if it doesn't coincide with the Bible''. ''We are implementing a 10% tithing policy''. That's why I think they even snuck in the word ''tithe'' in that ''silver sword'' bible released a couple of years ago.

Why do people follow demonstrably False Prophets?
by WireRider inwhy does everyone just turn a blind eye to the false teachings of the watchtower?
the bible warns us many times and in many ways not to follow false prophets - including the lake of fire.
fundamentally why do the followers of the watchtower just ignore the very bible they claim to live by?.

I'm thinking that people can't live without being what told to do or can't live without wanting to belong to something. -

Too Much Discontent in the Congregation Part 3
by Simon Templar innow, 80-85 years later, we are still here.
if i was to do the counsel with a brother who had this much experience, i would have just thanked him for doing the talk, and marked him good on the point.
this is a good way to get money though.

Other Religious Groups Critical of Higher Education
by Wild_Thing ini was reading an essay online about how witnesses are critical of higher education and discourage it.
the editor's note said there are other conservative religious groups that hold the same view towards education.. there are?
do any of you know of any religious group that works as hard as the jws at keeping their members stupid?.

Education induces one to think independently. That's why the Borg hates higher education so much. There are so many accounts of JW's who go to University/College and becoming Atheists or Evolutionists. Teachings which are contrary to Borg teachings.
